Are you concerned about safety in your home?
We will be happy to come out and check your home for Safety Hazards. This program is not an inspection, which is required any time you change an occupancy or perform renovations.
Our firefighters will come to your home, check smoke detectors, carbon monoxide detectors and the placement of these detectors. They will also offer tips such as where to store flammable liquids and information regarding wood or gas burning appliances.
Please call Headquarters or stop by to schedule a time. |

If you would like a Fire Truck to come to your birthday party or classroom, we will do that too!
Our firefighters will be happy to come out and show you the fire truck, tools and equipment we carry. We will also give safety presentations to your children and explain the dangers of playing with fire.
We also invite you to bring your children or group to the firehouse. The firefighters will start off by giving a fire safety presentation. They will then show you our station, trucks and equipment.
Please call Headquarters or stop by to schedule a time. |

Whether you have a group of adults or children, many people have never used a fire extinguisher. Although it may sound easy, many people do not realize there are some things you need to be aware of when using an extinguisher.
- What type? - How big? - Is it worth trying to extinguish yourself or should you get out and call 911?!
Our District has two propane fed burn pans which we use to teach you the proper method for attacking a fire with an extinguisher. Students will use actual extinguishers and put out a real fire!
This class must be done during warm weather, please call to schedule a time! |

It is a fact, smoke detectors save lives! A wood frame home can become fully involved with fire in as little as three minutes under the right conditions. Smoke detectors can alert you and your family in enough time to get everyone out safely.
The Saline Valley Residential Occupancy Code requires smoke detectors to be place in every bedroom, within 10 feet of bedrooms and on every level of the home. Our firefighters will be happy to come to your home and show you the proper placement for smoke detectors.
Smoke detector batteries should be replaced every six months, regardless if they are battery only or battery and electric powered. |

Carbon Monoxide is colorless, odorless and tasteless gas that is a product of incomplete combustion. This means that if your home has a natural gas, propane, wood burning or alternative fuel appliance; you are at risk of having a CO incident.
The signs and symptoms of CO poisoning are; headache, nausea, light headedness, difficulty breathing and possibly death. If you experience any of these symptoms, get out of the house and call 9-1-1 immediately. Many of our CO alarms occur late in the evening because people do not recognize the danger.
Children and the elderly are especially susceptible to CO poisoning and every precaution should be taken to prevent an incident. The Saline Valley Residential Occupancy Code requires CO Detectors on every level of your home and within 10 feet of bedrooms.
Call one of our stations if you have any questions about CO or the placement of a CO detector. |
